Sisimiut Aquatic Centre
KHR Architecture
Sisimiut, on Greenland’s west coast, is a growing educational centre where fishing is the main industry. Yet children and adults lack a safe place to learn swimming, with the nearest pool in Nuuk, five hours away. In the long Arctic winters, the town also has few spaces for recreation. A swimming pool could provide a warm, bright environment for social interaction, activity, and play, while promoting health and offering the community an inclusive gathering point.
